Flooding is one of the most devastating natural disasters in the world. It occurs when water from heavy rains exceeds the capacity of the river banks into which it runs. Some roads are also being affected when this natural phenomenon happens which lead to closure of roads. This closure, however, are often dissiminated late to the people that are passing through the closed roads. For this purpose, a Road Flood Warning System with Information Dissemination via Social Media has been developed to provide timely flood alert information to the public. The system determines the depth of the water through an ultrasonic sensor and disseminates the data gathered to the Internet through the use of social media sites specifically Twitter and Facebook. Moreover, the system has a LED matrix and light emitting diode to display whether the roads are passable during the occurrence of floods. The test results on the performance of ultrasonic sensor showed an accuracy of 98.69% while dissemination of information was 90% successful.

Learning how to speak in order to communicate with others is part of growing up. Like a normal person, deaf and mutes also need to learn how to connect to the world they live in. For this purpose, an Electronic Glove or
E-Glovewas developed as a teaching aid for the hearing impaired particularly children. E-Glove makes use ofthe American Sign Language (ASL) asthe basis for recognizing hand gestures. It was designed using flex sensors and an accelerometer to detect the degree of bend made by the fingers as well asa movement of the hand. E-Glove transmits the data received from the sensors wirelessly to a computer and then displays the letter or basic word that correspondsto a gesture made by the individual wearing it. E-Glove provides a simple, accurate, reliable, cheap, speedy gesture recognition and user-friendlyteaching aid for the instructors that are teaching sign language to the deaf and mute community.

Sun drying is a conventional drying method of paddy commonly used in Asia. During the process, grains are mixed and turned continuously using a rake to maintain good quality. For this reason, a robotic rake or Rakebot was developed in this study to properly mix the grains during sun drying. Rakebot is manually controlled using a mobile application through Bluetooth connection but can also move automatically using the previous movements that were recorded on the first used. It was developed using a microcontroller that gives directions to the motors based on the received instructions from the mobile application. The recorded movements are saved in a memory card by means of a memory card module connected to the microcontroller. The objective measures showed that the Rakebot ensures simultaneous reduction of the moisture content of paddy. Also, the rake design of the robot prevents fissuring of grains.
Data mining in education is an emerging multidiscipline research field especially with the upsurge of new technologies used in educational systems that led to the storage of massive student data. This study used classification, a data mining process, in evaluating computer engineering student's data to identify students who need academic counseling in the subject. There were five attributes considered in building the classification model. The decision tree was chosen as the classifier for the model. The accuracy of the decision tree algorithms, Random Tree, RepTree and J48, were compared using crossvalidation wherein Random Tree returned the highest accuracy of 75.188%. Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis (WEKA) data mining tool was used in generating the classification model. The classification rules extracted from the decision tree was used in the algorithm of the Research Project Grade Predictor application which was developed using Visual C#. The application will help research instructors or advisers to easily identify students who need more attention because they are predicted to have low grades.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
