Hiromi Goto's Chorus of Mushrooms (1994) highlights the difficulties encountered by Japanese when immigrating and living in Canada. This essay focuses on how Hiromi Goto uses linguistic codes to construct cultural identities and to stress the arbitrary nature of stereotypes. It analyzes the importance of memory and translation, which can be seen as both necessary and alienating. It also examines the importance of language and storytelling in the process of constructing one's identity.

This text focuses on a didactic sequence (DS) which was put into practice during the school year 2011–2012 with 6th grade students from the public school Jaume I ''El Conqueridor'' of Catarroja (Valencia) in the area of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). The DS was applied to the teaching of an expository text, and different pedagogic strategies—vocabulary redundancy, familiarity with the ideas involved, and a checklist to encourage student autonomy—were implemented to allow students to experiment this practice as a coherent, cohesive process adapted to their needs. The final DS design stroke a balance between a grammatical and a purely ideational focus and, as a result, students were able to improve their acquaintance with, and use of, the main features of expository writing without becoming estranged in the learning process.

Resumen: Las ediciones que se han realizado de las correspondencias del siglo xvi han omitido frecuentemente las cartas escritas por mujeres. Es el caso de la gran obra realizada por Charles Weiss, Papiers d'État du cardinal de Granvelle (1841de Granvelle ( -1852. En los 9 volúmenes que componen este trabajo, la comisión dirigida por Weiss editó numerosas cartas manuscritas que se conservan en la Bibliothèque Municipale de Besançon y que pertenecían a Antonio Perrenot, cardenal de Granvela. En este estudio analizaremos la presencia de las cartas escritas por las mujeres de la casa de Austria en la edición de Weiss. Abstract: The editions that have been made of 16th century correspondences have frequently omitted the letters written by women. It is the case of the work of Charles Weiss, Papiers d'État du cardinal de Granvelle (1841de Granvelle ( -1852. In the 9 volumes that form this edition, the commission directed by Weiss published many letters of the Bibliothèque Municipale de Besançon that belonged to Antoine Perrenot, cardinal of Granvelle. This study will examine the letters that were written by the women of the family of Austria and that were published in the Papiers d'État. It will show which criteria were followed to select the letters for the publication, and it will highlight the results of the edition that was finally made.
