Micro-disks and micro-rods of ZnO were successfully synthesized by a mild solution process using zinc chloride as starting material. The morphology of the ZnO crystals changed substantially, depending on the concentrations of the Zn 2? ion and organic additives in the solution. A plate-like Zn 5 (OH) 8 Cl 2 ÁH 2 O precursor with a layered structure could be produced in solutions with high concentrations of chloride ions. The thermal stability, including phase composition and morphology, of the as-prepared Zn 5 (OH) 8 Cl 2 ÁH 2 O in air and water was investigated.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
