Approximately 20% of fetal positions during labor and approximately 5% of fetal positions during delivery are occiput posterior (OP), which is associated with high cesarean delivery rates and severe perineal lacerations. The hypothesis of this study was that the maternal lateral asymmetric decubitus (LAD) posture favored fetal head flexion during uterine contractions.
