Participaram do estudo 41 pessoas. With a mixed outline, the research was developed in Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) and considered seven geographic regions of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). Forty-one people participated in the study. Interviewing techniques, document analysis and observations were used. Data were analyzed through content analysis. It was noticed that, in primary health care, the user/worker is invisible to the staff and, consequently, the process health-illness at work does not consist in an object that leads to action. To sum up, despite the significant advances, the surveillance of occupational health still needs intra and inter-institutional coordination, interdisciplinary and intersectoral actions, transversal to a monitoring system with institutional consolidation.
