Resumo: Esse artigo objetiva descrever os resultados de uma pesquisa que investigou as representações de gênero entre alunos de escola pública, dos anos iniciais do ensino fundamental II. O estudo foi realizado em seis turmas do sexto ano do ensino fundamental, totalizando 226 alunos, dos quais 126 meninos e 100 meninas, entre 10 e 11 anos. Foi solicitado que as crianças expressassem por meio da escrita e do desenho sua opinião a respeito do que é "ser homem" e "ser mulher". O objetivo era descobrir as representações que esses alunos tinham em relação à questão do gênero. Starting from the premise that in every time and place, has been a kind of society, education and individual aim in this article, make some reflections that are necessary to understand the historical process Application College of constitution of the State University of London in order to understand its historical nature having as parameter the influences of Brazilian economic and pedagogical model of the 1930s to the present day.In the quest to recover the historical trajectory of the creation of Application Colleges in Brazil and specifically the application of the College of the State University of Londrina, bibliographical research and document analysis formed the set of investigative procedures.Having as parameter the Ten Year Plan for Education for All (BRAZIL, 2003) can be seen that the creation of Application Colleges as experimental field to think of new teaching methodologies, enabling the link between higher education and basic education had as influences the theories of Rousseau and Dewey.
