The inadequate disposal of solid waste can be a practice that maximizes environmental degradation. Given the above, the present work aimed to analyze the final disposal of urban solid waste in the municipalities that are part of the Território de Identidade Costa do Descobrimento, in Bahia. The first step was the research on specialized official platforms and websites and the literature review of scientific articles. In the second stage, the Municipalities were contacted. With the exception of the Municipalities of Belmonte and Porto Seguro, the works analyzed showed a predominance of the use of open dumps. It was possible to notice a variation in the use of some terminologies. The city halls of the municipalities did not return contact, which made it impossible to access information that was not found on the platforms and in the analyzed scientific literature. It is recommended that city halls fill in the official platforms, thus avoiding the information gap, as well as studying the feasibility of creating consortiums among those who are interested in disposing of waste as recommended by the PNRS, thus preventing the impacts negative environmental influences continue to exert influences in the municipalities studied.
