Based on this law, the Iranian Legal Medicine Organization has adopted procedures in recent years for authorizing legal abortion, which require at least one of a list of 51 conditions to be met for a licence to be issued; 22 relate to the health of the mother and 29 to the health of the fetus. These 51 conditions are serious and incurable diseases that will cause the mother, the fetus or the future child to suffer (6,8,9). The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei, issued a fatwa on this matter in 2003, stating that, "if the fetal condition can be definitively
Background: During the growth process, young adults are often exposed to and involved in a number of risky behaviors which can have permanent social and health-related consequences. Moreover in clinical practice with adolescents, they frequently miss to comply with a therapeutic program. In this regard, designing proper interventions for adolescent behaviors is necessary. Psychodrama is a kind of non-scripted theater often used as a psychotherapy. The purpose of this review is to determine the effect of psychodrama on the health of adolescent girls. Methods: Resources were searched in the databases of Scopus, Ovid, Science Direct, PubMed, Web of Science, IranMedex, and SID, with keywords of "psychodrama", "adolescence", "teenager", "health", and "girls". Both English and Persian resources without time limitation were reviewed. Results: In total, 1840 relevant studies were found. By respecting inclusion criteria, 8 interventional studies were selected to be included in this review. In these studies, some of the effects of psychodrama, such as improving anxiety, depression, oppositional deviant disorder, hyperactivity, frustration, emotional regulation, aggression, conflict resolution skills, forgiveness, self-esteem, and communication skills were determined. Conclusion: The study results indicate improvement of some topics of mental or social health of the adolescent girls. It is suggested that other topics of mental and social health be investigated and more valid studies be designed on the effects of psychodrama on the mental and social and physical health of adolescent girls.
Introduction: Sexual education programs are necessary for adolescents. According to the literature, adolescents find theater-based interventions more acceptable and memorable than traditional didactic teaching methods. Objective: This study aims to summarize all the available primary research with theater-based interventions for sexual health education to adolescents. Materials and Methods: In this systematic review, studies were searched in the databases of Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, Magiran, SID, and IranDoc, which were written in English or Farsi from 2011 to 2021. Quantitative and mix-method studies with a theater-based intervention for sexual education were selected. Results: All of the 7 selected studies determined the impact of theater-based sex education on sexual activity and sexually transmitted diseases, and four studies on “psychological issues related to sexual health “or “healthy relationship” or “sexual violence.” The outcomes of the studies included increasing knowledge and self-efficacy and improving attitudes regarding sexual health, the intended age of first sex, and less risky behavior in condom usage. Also, two studies determined the appropriate method for theater-based sex education for adolescents. Conclusion: Theater is an attractive and effective method of sexual education for adolescents. It is recommended that further interventional theater-based studies on adolescents should not only emphasize the biological aspects of reproduction but also focus on acquiring healthy behaviors.
