Foram utilizados nove animais capturados no seu habitat natural e sete procedentes de cativeiro localizado no Centro de Multiplicação de Animais Silvestres no município de Mossoró. Após a eutanásia, os animais foram submetidos à necropsia e o trato digestório, traquéia, coração, pulmão, fígado, pâncreas e rins, foram observados quanto à presença de parasitos. Foram identificadas cinco espécies de nematódeos (Paraspidodera uncinata, Trichostrongylus colubriformis, Trichuris gracilis, Trichuris muris e Vianella lenti) e uma de cestódeo (Thysanotaenia congolensis).Palavras-chave: nematoda, cestoda, roedor, silvestre. A AB BS ST TR RA AC CT TThis study shows the helminthic fauna of 16 rock cavies (Kerodon rupestris) from the semi-arid region in the State of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Nine animals were captured from the wild and seven from a captive population located at the Centro de Multiplicação de Animais Silvestres, city of Mossoró, were examined in this study. The animals were slaughtered, and post mortem analysis of the digestive tract, trachea, heart, lungs, liver, pancreas, and kidneys were done in search for the presence of parasites. Five species of nematode (Paraspidodera uncinata, Trichostrongylus colubriformis, Trichuris gracilis, Trichuris muris, and Vianella lenti) and one species of cestode (Thysanotaenia congolensis) were identified.
A dirofilariose representa um problema de saúde canina devido às sérias alterações orgânicas que ocasionam no hospedeiro infectado. A pesquisa de microfilárias em amostras de sangue de 120 cães mostrou que 12,5% estavam infectados, confirmando a existência do parasito no município de Coari. Esse estudo é o primeiro realizado na região do Médio Solimões necessitando que medidas preventivas sejam realizadas conforme a necessidade da localidade. The search for microfilariae in blood samples of 120 dogs showed that 12,5% of these animals were infected, confirming presence of heartworm on the Coari city. This was the first survey formally published on canine dirofilariasis in Medio Solimoes region needing who preventive measure to be necessary conformably the reality of locality.
Parasitism by genus Physocephalus sp. is reported in two naturally infected species of paca from the eastern Amazon region. Four animals were necropsied and during inspection of the digestive tract nodules were observed in the greater curvature of the stomach. Inside these nodules, parasites of the genus Physocephalus sp. were found, (seven males and seven females) with an average of three nematodes fixed and infiltrated into the submucosa of each lesion. Histopathological examination showed congestion and interstitial hemorrhage in the submucosal region, associated with the presence of mononuclear inflammatory infiltrate, as well as nematodes at the lesion site. Despite previous descriptions of this pathogen in rodents, we are not aware of any reports of lesions caused by this parasite. The lesions caused by the action of this pathogen in the stomach mucosa may affect the digestive process of C. paca and lead the animal to present diminished food intake and consequent inactivity and arrested growth and weight gain, compromising the health and welfare of wild species.
