Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) fibers (stretch ratio 2, 30 filament, 110 dTex) were received from Amir Kabir University and Technology (Tehran). Methyl methacrylate (MMA) and acrylic acid (AA) were purchased by BDH Co. of England and after purification were used in all experiments. Bz2O2 after
In the present study, graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate, acrylic acid onto poly(ethylene terephthalate) fibers has been studied as a new adsorbent for the removal of Zn 2+ ions from aqueous solutions by a batch equilibrium technique. The prepared copolymer was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, specific surface area, cation exchange capacity and point of zero charge (pHzpc). The best conditions for removal of Zn 2+ recorded (pH = 6.5, t = 20 min, maximum adsorption capacity = 17.00 mg/g).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
