This research aimed to find out the types of sentence structure errors in English paragraphs written by tertiary English students and the factors causing the errors. This research employed an explanatory mixed-method design. Fourth-semester students from the English department of IAIN Curup were engaged as the subjects of this research. Positivism-governed document analyses and constructivism-based interviews were conducted to solicit the data as desired. The quantitative findings garnered from document analyses endorsing a ready-to-use construct proposed by Dulay, Burt, and Krashen (1982), revealed that there were four types of sentence structure errors students made, namely omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. Those types of errors were exhibited in a proximate composition which meant that the students had compatible difficulties in terms of the four types of errors. As uncovered from students' writing works, the four types of errors were found in the domains of words, phrases, and clauses. Subsequently, the qualitative findings, elicited from interviews, demonstrated that the factors of sentence structure errors extended to students' mother tongue interference, overgeneralization in the use of English rules and norms, and the lecturer's teaching material delivery and method. Anchored in the data gained, this research discussed the data from the perspective of interlanguage theory, wherein some reviews of SLA and EFL pedagogy-related theories were offered to help lower the factors causing English sentence structure errors in writing skills. Keywords: Errors, Sentence Structure, English writing skill
The strategy for reducing infant mortality rates (IMR) requires an integrated approach between community empowerment to increase access to education for mothers of infants and toddlers, one of which is a class for mothers of children under five. The success of the Mother Class Of Toddlers program is very dependent on the support and participation of the community. Health cadres have an important contribution to improving the community's ability to achieve optimal health status. Community service activities aim to train the skills of posyandu cadres as Toddler Class Cadres through the empowerment of posyandu cadres in optimizing the implementation of mother-to-five classes. The target of the activity is 15 active Posyandu Cadres in the Curup Timur District, Kepahiang Regency, Bengkulu. The average posttest score was 93.67 after the training, indicating there was an increase in the knowledge score of cadres. The average value of the skills of the toddler class cadres is 81.29. The paradigm of midwifery services at this time has experienced a shift where the high public interest in quality midwifery services demands midwifery service innovation and creativity from midwives. Many forms of entrepreneurship from the Midwife's Independent Practice are an option for midwives to increase the types of complementary midwifery services holistically (Body, mind and Spirit) to reduce medical interventions during pregnancy and postpartum, one of which is postpartum acuyoga, a combination of acupressure and yoga. The purpose of this community service is to provide information on knowledge and skills about postpartum Acuyoga to alumni of the Curup Midwifery Study Program who already have a Midwife Practice License. The method used in this community service is a workshop which is carried out for 3 days including the activities on the first day, namely the delivery of material about the independent business opportunities of midwives and Postpartum Acuyoga followed by the second day, namely the practice of Postpartum Acuyoga. This activity went smoothly and was attended by 30 midwives, where all participants were able to participate in the activity for 3 days without any obstacles. Participants understand the importance of innovating in developing midwifery services so that they can increase their income and experience in entrepreneurship.
