This case studyaimed at investigating the implementation of literacy activities in developing the students’ character of SD Negeri Secang 1 as one of child-friendly school models in Magelang Regency developed by Lund University, Sweden. This study described the practical guidance on literacy activities of child-friendly schools in developing the students’ character through the literacy programs. Since it was a case study, the writer only focused on one school and the result could not be used to generalize to child friendly schools in Indonesia. Interview and observation were used in collecting the data of this study. The interview was used to gain information on how literacy activities were normally conducted at SD Negeri Secang 1 as a friendly school model and observation was used to see the real implementation of Literacy activities in developing the students’ character. Based on the data analysis, it revealed that through literacy activitiesof a 15-minute reading activity, the students were able to develop their characters. By reading different topics, they could build their knowledge and values based on the topics they read.
This paper seeks to examine the concept of “Merdeka Belajar” or “Freedom of Learning” which was initiated by the Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture, Nadiem Makarim. The study of freedom of learning uses text study with content analysis method. The concept of “Freedom of Learning” is very interesting when studied with a multicultural education perspective. Moreover, the two concepts have the same relevance and spirit, namely freedom and justice in the human resources development context, particularly through the educational process. Based on the results, the implementation of “MerdekaBelajar” program so far includes four aspects, namely financing, teachers / educators, assessment, and graduates. In a multicultural perspective, problems in management and assessment aspects basically caused by a misunderstanding of the meaning of standards and standardization. Meanwhile, the teacher and graduate aspects lie in the importance of developing multicultural competencies.Integrating a multicultural education perspective in the “Freedom of Learning” policy also transforms an education system that is creative, innovative, and character.
Phonological errors in communicating will let the listener gain a different meaning and communication becomes impeded. The students' errors are due to their lack of understanding of the sound system of language, as their second-language acquisition. The problem in this research is what type of phonological errors are made by students when they are listening to the short story and will impact on their speaking. The data is conducted in the language laboratory of The National University in Jakarta by secondsemester students in the subject of Spoken English. in the Faculty of Letters, English Department. The purpose of this research study is to learnthe difficulties of students when learning Basic Spoken English. The method used is descriptive with content analysis techniques. The result showed the most the biggest of surface structure taxonomy of phonological errors created by the students when they are listening to the short story and has impacted on speaking is global errors in diphthong (61,29%). This is because in Indonesian there is no sound of a diphthong. These global errors will have an effect on good communication. The students should study the phonological system in the target language, especially diphthong sound, in addition to vowels and consonants. It is expected that the lecturer often guides students' pronunciation based on the point and the manner of articulation and improve if they are not able to.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal yang hidup di masyarakat sehingga mampu menjadi pedoman hidup dalam membentuk karakter masyarakat setempat. Tulisan in merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Magelang Raya yang terdiri dari Kota Magelang dan Kabupaten Magelang dari Bulan Mei sampai dengan Bulan Agustus 2020. Subjek penelitian ditentukan dengan cara purposive, yakni tokoh-tokoh yang peham tentang kondisi masyarakat dan lingkungan Magelang. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan adanya nilai-nilai kearifan lokal yang mampu membentuk karakter masyarakat Magelang Raya. Kearifan lokal tersebut terdiri dari: (1) unsur sosial masyarakat dengan adanya pondok atau masyarakat pesantren sehingga memberikan corak masyarakat yang religius dan patuh terhadap pemimpinnya, akademi militer yang mampu memberikan teladan karakter yang tanggung jawab, disiplin, patriotik, semangat kebangsaan; (2) unsur keberadaan situs sejarah Candi Borobudur yang membentuk masyarakat memiliki karakter toleransi untuk tetap menjaga keharmonisan dalam keberagaman; (3) unsur budaya atau kesenian musik Gejog Lesung yang sarat akan pesan moral untuk bersama dalam keberagaman dan berbeda dalam kebersamaan; (4) unsur alam dengan adanya Gunung Tidar yang memiliki banyak prasasti dengan tulisan Aksara Jawa yang mengandung falsafah hidup sarat akan pesan moral untuk membentuk karakter jujur, bertanggung jawab, rendah hati, saling tolong menolong, dan menghindari kekerasan dalam setiap penyelesaian masalah dalam kehidupan.
This study reports the profile of Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) of Writing lectures from the students’ perspective. It described the students’ attitudes and opinion on the implementation of Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) during joining the teaching-learning activities of writing class. Adopting qualitative descriptive study framework, fifty students participated in fulfilling the questionnaires on the implementation of Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK). Closed questionnaire was implemented as the research instrument in collecting the data. Closed questionnaire was used to measure 7 (seven) TPACK domains, namely: 1. Technological Knowledge, 2. Pedagogical Knowledge, 3. Content Knowledge, 4. Technological Pedagogical Knowledge, 5. Technological Content Knowledge, 6. Pedagogical Content Knowledge, 7. Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge. The results show that the ability of lecturers of writing class in applying TPACK is at enough criteria.
