This study aims to analyze the frame used by the media in the Covid-19 coverage in Indonesia on the Kompas.com and detik.com news portals during March 2020. The method used is framing analysis with three indicators, namely, frame type, news source, and news tone. The results showed that in the Covid-19 coverage in Indonesia the media used two dominant frames, namely, (1) the public health frame to show the aspects of victims, risks, and threats of the policy frame to frame the government's strategy in handling Covid-19. In the reporting of Covid-19, the Central Government such as the Ministry of Health, the Government Spokesperson on the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling Covid-19, and the President of the Republic of Indonesia. As for the news tone, the two media studied showed that the narrative of fear and worry is the dominant tone. While the recommended tone and instructions as well as the tone of hope and solution are not displayed by too much media. This research recommends that the media and journalists use narratives that build expectations and provide solutions for the public because the Covid-19 disaster increased public uncertainty.
Pubic speaking is an individual skill that is a necessity in the current era of disruption. Public speaking skills are needed to support the best results in education, the social environment, and the workplace. But not everyone is able to do public speaking well. Previous research states that the condition is caused by excessive fear of individuals to speak in front of the crowd (glossophobia). The objectives of this training are (1) to open students' horizons about public speaking; (2) arousing student motivation so as not to worry about public speaking; and (3) train students practically to be able to practice public speaking in everyday life. This training uses three stages, namely, pre-training research, lectures and discussions, and the practice of public speaking. The results of the training provide practical public speaking techniques to students with a simple concept known as POBC namelyPlanning, Opening, the Body of Speech, and Conclusion and mind mapping. This method is considered to make it easier for students to do public speaking systematically from planning to closing interesting speeches.
The research objective is to analyze the influence of individual characteristics and disclosure of disaster risk information on community preparedness in facing coastal floods. The methodology used is explanatory research with a quantitative approach. In this study, a questionnaire was used with the number of samples were 82 respondents who were in the desa Pasir, Kec. Johan Pahlawan, Kab.Aceh Barat. The results of this study indicate that the individual characteristics of gender, age, and final education have a significant effect on community preparedness to face coastal flooding, but are classified as quite weak. Meanwhile, the disclosure of disaster risk information, namely the intensity of media use, the frequency of media use, and the quality of information has a significant effect on community preparedness to face coastal flooding, and is classified as strong.
