Along with other skills, an adolescent need to develop adequate decision-making skills as several important decisions that will have an impact on their future will be taken during this period. One such important decision that needs to be taken is regarding academic and career choices. Most of these choices are inluenced by cognitive factors or emotional factors. Keeping in view the prior research gaps, the aim of this paper is to explore the shared cognitive and emotional factors inluencing adolescents career choices living in small city. In depth interviews were taken from ten higher secondary school students studying at different colleges in Multan through a convenient sampling technique. Data were analyzed with the help of thematic analysis. Semantic and inductive approach was used to generate themes. Results of the study revealed the autonomy in career choice, stigmas attached with the career choice, individual factors in career choice, and impact of the program on mental and emotional health. It was observed that male students were given a choice in terms of their career as compared to females. Also, male students were more conident and stress-lived as they opted for their desired careers. On the contrary female students feel depressed, helpless and reported emotional and mental health issues due to the unavailability of career choices and forced career on them. The study helped in understanding the impact of program of the study on students cognitive and emotional health. It can be implied from the present study that gender differences still prevail in our education system. Due to scarcity of career options available and the pressure to get admission from the parents in prestigious institutes are making adolescents compromise on their mental and emotional health. Therefore, a career guidance plan should be introduced in education policy for adolescents' mental health. Also, it was also the irst study which supported the concept of shared cognitive and emotional experiences.
The current phenomenological study explored marital experiences of Pakistani couples to investigate the factors leading to a flourishing marital life. The data was collected using semi-structured interviews that were digitally recorded and transcribed. The sample included 14 couples who were married for more than ten years. Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis was applied to explore the qualitative data. Two major clusters emerged from the couples’ descriptions of their marital flourishing: Personality Cluster and Relationship Cluster. The clusters was further divided that included: Commitment and Loyalty, Respect, Patterns of Communication, Degree of closeness and intimacy with the partner, Spousal support and encouragement, Interactional Styles during Conflict, Self Compassion, Ability to regulate Emotional Reactions, Capitalizing on Positive Events, Humor, Expressing love for the partner. Study has implications for Family Research Analysts working at Mental Health Solace and Pakistan Council on Family Relations. This study attempts to understand how Islamic microfinance can be used to increase happiness in women and maintain sustainable economic development in Southern Punjab, Pakistan. It will analyze how the principles of Islamic microfinance help women in increasing their happiness. It also put forth light on the linkage between economic development and happiness. The survey will be conducted in Bahawalpur the State of Southern Punjab, Pakistan. It will also be considered that religion is not a hindering factor in the implementation of Islamic microfinance. It will also assume that Islamic microfinance in concert with the right fiscal and monetary policies framework, will contribute positively to increase happiness among women in Pakistan.
Flourishing within marital relationship is a notion used to describe optimum quality of relationship between husband and wife. Despite profusion of research to recognize the factors underlying a happy and satisfying marital relationship, the determinant of a flourishing marital connection remains limited. Moreover, in the effort to understand flourishing of marital relationship, role of demographic variables has always been understudied. Hence, aim of the current investigation was to investigate the effects of level of education upon flourishing of Pakistani married sample. 1002 married individuals participated in this cross sectional study. Data was gathered through self-report indigenous measure of Psychological Flourishing Scale (PFS; Fahd & Hanif, 2007). The data was analyzed by inferential statistics using One-way Analysis of Variance. Findings exhibited significant variances in marital flourishing on the basis of level of education. It was depicted that level of marital flourishing was highest among individuals with low level of education i.e. matric as compared to high levels of education i.e. Masters and M.Phil./PhD. The article is concluded by briefly foregrounding some of the study’s limitations as well as implications for the practice, and some of the directions for future research.
