This article presents a series of propositions for the prediction of horizontal displacements for continuous flight auger piles in granular soil profiles through modifying the parameters A y and B y from the method proposed by Matlock and Reese (1961). Empirical proposals were also presented for calculating the horizontal soil reaction coefficient (n h ) for granular soils. Data from ten horizontal static load tests, conducted in the city of Paulino Neves (State of Maranhão, Brazil) were used to develop and validate the propositions. The data regarding results of nine static load tests (PCH 1 to PCH 9) were used to develop the propositions, whereas results for PCH 10 and other data from other studies (Cases A and B) were used in the validation step. Modifying the parameters used in Matlock and Reese's method resulted in convergent and coherent predictions for all the propositions assessed in this study. In addition, predictions made for piles used in the validation phase yielded results very congruent with experimental displacements.
Este trabalho tem como objetivo mostrar os resultados obtidos em provas de carga horizontais e obter curvas p-y ao longo da profundidade pelos métodos de Murchison e O'Neil (1984) e API RP 2A (2000). Para realizar tais objetivos, foi definido como local de estudo o município de Paulino Neves -MA, onde foram realizadas sondagens e ensaios de prova de carga horizontal (PCH). As curvas p-y foram estimadas para as profundidades de 0,25 m, 0,50 m, 1,0 m e 2,5 m e foram utilizados resultados de quatro estacas hélice contínua de diâmetro 600 mm, com tamanhos variando entre 16,96 m e 27,0 m, todas adjacentes em solo granular. Concluiu-se que o método de Murchison e O'Neil (1984) resultou em previsões de curvas superiores ao método da API RP 2A (2000).
