Teachers are the key knowledge producers and the development driving force of any nation. Studies have shown that, the wealth of any nation largely rests on empowering its knowledge producers and knowledge generators. Training teachers on necessary skills and knowledge for personal and career development is a must for attaining sustainable societal development. One of the Saudi's Ninth Development Plan is to turn the Saudi society into information society through various mechanisms notably training and developing teachers on effective use of ICT. This paper discusses the Saudi development framework for training its treachers on skills and knowledge in terms of ICT having been in information communication age which helps in knowledge dissemination, knowledge transfer, knowledge sharing, and knowledge production. The impediments in the way of achieving this framework are discussed while suggestions are proposed for the improvement of the model for the Saudi Government, stakeholders, teachers as well as Saudi society at large.

This study aims at investigating the effect of Blended Learning approach compared to the traditional learning approach on fifth grade students’ achievement in My Beautiful Language Textbook and the development of their verbal creative thinking. The study consisted of 49 students among which 25 are males in the Experimental Group and 24 females in the Control Group. The study found a statistical significant difference (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the two study groups in achievement posttest and verbal creative thinking post application test. The experiment group which was taught using the blended approach of learning outperformed the Control Group in both tests. Thus, learning My Beautiful Language Textbook using the blended approach is more effective than the traditional method in terms of achievement and the development of verbal creative thinking skills. In light of this, the study recommends the adoption of blended approach in learning My Beautiful Language Textbook, the curriculum computerization, holding series of training courses, and workshops for teachers in school districts on how to effectively implement the blended approach.
Abstract:Effective communication between faculty members and students is one of the concerns of the educational stakeholders at the Northern Border University, Saudi Arabia. This study investigates the relationship between teachers' effective communication and students' academic achievement at the Northern Border University. The survey questionnaire containing 26 items was administered on 100 students, 50 males and 50 females to ask about their perception towards the effective communication of the faculty members and their academic achievement at the Faculty of Education and Arts, Northern Border University in the City of Arar, Saudi Arabia. The results of the Descriptive statistics method showed that, almost more than half of the students agreed that, the friendly and understanding position maintained by their faculty members had helped them to highly achieve academically. The results of the independent sample T-test found no statistically significant differences between the students 'academic achievement and their faculty members' verbal communication across the respondents' gender and year of study. The study recommended for the Northern Border Authority as well as the Saudi Government looking into other areas that might bring about the effective communication of the staff and the students' academic achievement in the University.
