Ultrastructural examination of Myxobolus nuevoleonensis in cysts on the bones at the bases of the anal, dorsal, and caudal fins of shortfin mollies Poecilia mexicana and guppies P. reticulate showed that sporogenesis and morphology of the mature spores were generally similar to those of the other myxosporeans. The sporoplasm, with one or two spherical nuclei, contained several ellipsoid sporoplasmosomes 70–120 nut in diameter. The polar capsule wall consists of three recognizable zones.
