This research aimed to determine what the students’ perception of speaking ability through learning from home at the 5th semester of Cokroaminoto Palopo University. The researcher used the descriptive qualitative method in this research. The researcher administered the open-ended questionnaire to the 5th semester of Cokroaminoto Palopo University by using an online questionnaire. The data was analyzed by using qualitative data analysis from Miles and Huberman. This research indicates that the students had a negative perception of e-learning during the covid-19 pandemic. After all, online learning made their speaking ability cine down because online learning was not compelling enough for their speaking abilities. Furthermore, some obstacles/problems faced during online learning are unstable networks, hard to understand the material, lack of internet quota, and lack of motivation.
The aim of this research is to know the Students’ Abilityin understanding Figurative language at the eight year students of English language education study program of UNCP. This study focuses on figurative testing specially in metaphor test. Quantitative descriptive method is the research design that the researcher used in this research. The population in this research was the eight year students of English Language Education Study Program, and sample in this research was 30 students. The ability of students is verypoor that the mean score was 32.67 which is classified into “low level” score category.
The main aim of the study is to examine the effectiveness of blindfold game to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery. The writer used random sampling technique to take the samples and total number of the sample were 20 students. The instrument of the study was vocabulary test. The result of the study reveals that there is a significant different between the students’ vocabulary mastery before and after using blindfold game. In the pre-test, there are 2 or 10% students get very poor, 7 or 35% students get poor, 8 or 55% students get fair and also 3 or 55% students get average classification. While in the post test, there are 8 or 40% students get average score, 11 or 55% students get good score, and only 1 or 15% students who get very good classification. The means score of the post-test is greater that pre-test ((56.25 < 75. 90).). The standard deviation of pre - test is 15. 18 and post-test is 9. 19. While P- Value = 0,000, (α)= 0,05. It means that the t - test is smaller than (α).
The purpose of this research is to prove effectivenes of brainwriting learning model in teaching student writing, especially narrative text. This research used pre-experimental method. The population of this research was grade 3 students of UPT SMA NEGERI 5 LUWU TIMUR which was consisted of 3 classes, each class consisted 30-33 students. This research used purposive sampling. The sample of this research was 30 students of class XII MIA 1 and XII MIA 2. This research used SPSS 20 to analyze the data. The data was taken by used test. The result of this research showed that used Brainwriting Learning Model in teaching narrative text can improve students' narrative text skills. This is evidenced by seeing a significant difference between the mean scores of students in the pre-test and post-test. In the pre-test the mean score of the students was 42.23 and the mean score of the post-test was 63.67, it means that there was a significant increase between the pre-test and the post-test. The standard deviation of the pre-test value is 12.339 and the standard deviation of the post-test is 9.007. This shows that the mean post-test score is higher than the pre-test after treatment (42.23> 63.67). Then the significant test value of the T-test of 0.000 is calculated using SPSS, and the results of statistical analysis for the significant level (α) = 0.05 therefore the probability results are 0.000 <0.05, then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, it means that there is a significant increase between the pre-test and post-test results of students in narrative text using brainwriting learning model.
This research aims to determine the students’ mastery in using modal auxiliary at second grade of SMP Negeri 5 Malangke. This research applied descriptive quantitative method as the research design. the population of this research is class XII of SMP Negeri 5 Malangke. This research used all the students at the second grade of SMP Negeri 5 Malangke as the population of this research.
