This scoping review summarizes and analyzes relevant studies related to the evidence published on undocumented immigrant women's access to and utilization of health and social services in Spain. Scientific literature was identified by entering search terms in seven electronic databases which combined retrieved health sciences peer-reviewed articles (Pubmed, Embase, CINAHL Plus and Scopus) and grey literature databases (Europa OpenGrey, DART-Europe and Google Scholar) published between 2004 and 2014 and written in Spanish or in English presenting data about Spain. Those that fulfill the inclusion criteria were selected after a blind peer reviewed process when pertinence and quality was debated. A total of 16 publications were included, the main topics being socio-cultural differences in the access and utilization of social and health services and barriers faced by immigrant women. None of the studies focused exclusively on undocumented women, hence further research is needed in this area.
BackgroundLow back pain is the highest reported musculoskeletal problem worldwide. Up to 90 % of patients with low back pain have no clear explanation for the source and origin of their pain. These individuals commonly receive a diagnosis of non-specific low back pain.Patient education is a way to provide information and advice aimed at changing patients’ cognition and knowledge about their chronic state through the reduction of fear of anticipatory outcomes and the resumption of normal activities. Information technology and the expedited communication processes associated with this technology can be used to deliver health care information to patients. Hence, this technology and its ability to deliver life-changing information has grown as a powerful and alternative health promotion tool.Several studies have demonstrated that websites can change and improve chronic patients’ knowledge and have a positive impact on patients’ attitudes and behaviors. The aim of this project is to identify chronic low back pain patients’ beliefs about the origin and meaning of pain to develop a web-based educational tool using different educational formats and gamification techniques.Methods/designThis study has a mixed-method sequential exploratory design. The participants are chronic low back pain patients between 18–65 years of age who are attending a primary care setting. For the qualitative phase, subjects will be contacted by their family physician and invited to participate in a personal semi-structured interview. The quantitative phase will be a randomized controlled trial. Subjects will be randomly allocated using a simple random sample technique. The intervention group will be provided access to the web site where they will find information related to their chronic low back pain. This information will be provided in different formats. All of this material will be based on the information obtained in the qualitative phase. Este artículo de investigación pretende realizar un análisis sociológico sobre los nuevos conflictos sociales y su presencia en la educación. En este sentido, parte de la reflexión teórica, del análisis documental y del trabajo de campo (investigación-acción) realizado en diversos institutos de educación secundaria. A partir de dicho análisis, se estudian las nuevas situaciones que se dan en el proceso de socialización, enmarcando el conflicto social y proponiendo vías alternativas de debate e intervención en la acción educativa. Entre ellas se proponen nuevas aportaciones teóricas como el concepto de la "net-socialización", que definimos como la nueva socialización glocal, intercultural y prefigurativa del mundo actual. Ello comporta un conflicto social de nuevas dimensiones que se traslada al campo educativo. En los institutos de educación secundaria, los profesores tienen grandes dificultades para resolver los conflictos. No es una situación problemática particular de los institutos sino que lo es
Se presentan una serie de elementos de debate y reflexión sobre aquellas alternativas susceptibles de generar una propuesta de educación intercultural que concilie teóricamente la individualización y el distanciamiento con el análisis de procesos sociales de integración. Esta propuesta, con todas sus limitaciones, se aproxima a los enfoques sostenidos por las teorías comunicativas, concienciadoras e interculturales, de mestizaje, propias de la sociedad red; y por autores, muy diversos, como Habermas, Giddens, Freire, Levin, Giroux, Flecha, Apple y Touraine, entre otros. Abogamos por lo que Touraine ha dado en llamar la "escuela del sujeto", una escuela en la que tienen cabida voluntarios y profesionales de la educación: maestros, psicopedagogos, familias, trabajadores y educadores sociales…y en la que se de respuesta a diversas situaciones educativas.
