This work is aimed to carry out a research on the strategies used by female who have been victims of domestic violence in order to cope with abusive behaviors from their partners. Mixed methods research were used in this study such as a questionnaire based on features of interpersonal relationships at familiar environment of fifteen abused women in the municipality of Suba, in Bogota, as well semi-structured interviews intended to extend studies about this subject. On other hand , the applied strategies used by victims were identified and classified such as emotional focused type which has been addressed on this issue. The obtained results have demonstrated that victims can implement several strategies simultaneously. To sum up it can be said female have found means that allow them not only to apply coping strategies but also overcome the situations related to mental and physical manipulation, these features present a significant perspective that has forwarded their role of victims.
