In cases about people under detention, the Inter-American Court invokes different sources, specially its own case law, to refer to prisoners' dignity. The first part of this paper identifies those sources. Analysis of the Inter-American Court's speech about dignity also reveals the practice of repeating certain formulas or abstract standards. The second part is consequently focused on enumerating those formulas, which represent the main hermeneutical criteria about prisoners' dignity in the Inter-American Court. Finally, formal aspects and some mistakes in the citation's practice are examined.

Se propone un análisis del contenido de cada fórmula, de su evolución a lo largo de la jurisprudencia de la Corte y del escenario fáctico subyacente.
