When working with families, family workers are expected to know what to do in order to practice ethically. The key for family workers staying open to inquiry and ethical endeavor is for family workers to understand how they know what they know. By understanding how they know what they know they can avoid making premature assumptions of what they do not know. Promoting a collective awareness of self and others within family can be used to inform the family of how they operate and can be used to formulate and create an evolving ethic that can be lived by the family.
