The data on visual thresholds for healthy human gingiva can be used as quality control tool/guide for selection and evaluation of dental materials, interpretation of color-related findings in clinical dentistry and research, and for standardization in dentistry. It is of particular value that this study was designed based on in-vivo color evaluation of healthy keratinized gingiva of subjects of different ethnicities, age groups, and gender.

Starvation for isoleucine inhibits chromosome, minichromosome and pBR322 DNA replication in a stringent strain of E. coli, but does not do so in a relaxed mutant. Starvation for other amino acids inhibits either chromosome and minichromosome replication in both strains. From these results we conclude that oriC and pBR322 replication are stringently regulated and that isoleucine seems not to be essential for the protein synthesis required at the initiation of oriC replication. Deprivation of isoleucine in a Rel~ strain gives rise to amplification of minichromosome and pBR322 with a better yield of the latter plasmid than that following treatment with chloramphenicol.

Su proximidad a nuestra asociación nos permitió contactar con él en el pasado Congreso APEGA de Valencia, dónde le propusimos un encuentro en su lugar de trabajo para charlar de otros aspectos menos conocidos de la persona Antonio Almagro, en relación con su vocación restauradora, sus inicios profesionales, su paso por Roma como pensionado, su experiencia como docente, o sus nuevos proyectos desde la Escuela de Estudios Árabes de Granada del CSIC.</p>
