This research is a literature study which discusses the concept of territoriality space theory. The observation focus in the context of traditional settlement, which emphasize on the social and cultural aspect that related to the social system and physical culture in traditional settlement context. The aim of this study to seek and uncover gap knowledge of space territoriality concept or theory that has been widely studied and researched, whether it has been done in more depth in behavioral and cultural aspects of society? Is the context of the traditional settlement has been studied in more depth and comprehensively?.Traditional settlements as the physical environment or setting is unique, and the distinctiveness have not been studied and examined in more depth. Territoriality is the relationship between space with humans, the study approach with a focus on cultural norms, and different societies will generate a form and a different concept of space. Finally, the results based on literature review shows that the concept or theory of territoriality in the traditional settlements context in more depth and comprehensively in the aspects of culture and behavior has not been done. Therefore, a specify and comprehension study of territoriality space on the traditional settlement need to be done, in order to find out an adequate formula related to territoriality space on the traditional settlement.
Territory in architecture is defined as a live organism's boundary to determine their demands, mark, and defend it. Territory for humans is not only limited physically and space but also related to emotional and cultural needs. Research about territories has not been specifically studied in contexts related to cultures that have specific characteristics. Based on this, research has a focus on developing theories on the types and patterns of territories in a traditional settlement. This research is naturalistic based on the theoretical framework that is built from the meaning of the results of several studies that have been conducted. In this research, the use of case studies is used as an empirical study to see how phenomena in real life of society, especially at the boundary of phenomena with existing contexts. Case Study uses a single embedded case that has more than one analysis unit. The research location is in "Ngata Toro, To-Kulawi", which is a traditional settlement that has character and characteristics. The expected outcome of this research is to develop and build concepts of patterns and types of spatial territories in architecture related to behavioral and cultural aspects.
Lobo is an architectural masterpiece that embodies the culture and have an important role in every activity and community interaction. Lobo as the embodiment of activities and indigenous communities, is a means of self-actualization in social interaction. In each community activities, "Lobo" has a role as a center of activity, and territoriality space eclectic emphasis on linkages between the human space. This study focuses on territory space Lobo architectural "Ngata Toro" as an behavior attribute of human interaction with the environment in which the occurrence of an activity. The method used in this study to conduct a literature study and mapping of behavior based on where in the course of community activities. The result is "Lobo" as a masterpiece of architecture and indigenous communities "Ngata Toro", has an important role as a community activity node, there is a space in the hierarchy concept of space as a territory marker function activities as well as stratification and social interaction. Lobo also has a function as a public space problem solving occurs.
Sustainable development of settlement is an attempt to improve the quality of human life from the aspect of environmental sustainability, social, or economic, which is done to integrate and harmonize three aspects. Donggala Kodi is one of the areas included in the administrative boundaries of the Palu city which a with fairly steep slope topography and height of 200m. Under these conditions, in principle, to make into one of the proneness. Development of settlement areas by utilizing its asset base, need to specify the form of the space requirements, related social, economic and environmental. This is to achieve sustainable development, as well as how to address the imbalance that exists. Participatory approach with the involvement of the community in order to draw up conceptual sustainable settlements is one effective approach to solve the problem. This paper discusses how the preparation of conceptual framework of sustainable settlements with community participation approach. The result of the discussion related to the formulation of the concept of residential development on the socioeconomic empowerment of the community, and using the environment-based community.
Kaili Da'a, is one of the sub-ethnic Kaili in Central Sulawesi, especially those who live in an area at the foot of the Matantimali Hill in Dombu Village, West Marawola District. In addition to the shape of the house, the arrangement and configuration of residential elements which include community housing, the house of traditional leaders and the existence of bantaya and worship facilities in the form of a church building including different topography and orientation of community housing towards the house of the customary leader is a unique phenomenon to be explored and revealed. 5,53 MW. The objectives to be achieved in this study are to reveal the settlement patterns of the Kaili Da'a community in Dombu Village, identify the factors underlying settlement patterns, and reveal and describe the relationship between the socio-cultural (socio-cultural) factors of the community and settlement patterns. These objectives are studied through the Post Positivistic method with a qualitative approach, in order to reveal the ethical and emotional empiric (not palpable), behind the sensual empiric (physical) of settlements as the focus of this research The settlement pattern of the community or ethnic Kaili Da'a in Dombu Village is based on an orientation towards the east as part of the tradition and culture that has been passed down from generation to generation. Settlement arrangements and facing towards the east are the implementation of the cosmos concept which places nature (macrocosm) as part of human life and dwellings (settlements) as a microcosm (small nature); macrocosmic representation.
