The paper discusses the possibility to control the chaotic transients that lead to extinctions in population models affected by the Allee effect. In contrast with other methods that try to avoid chaos, in the present approach the system is maintained in chaos, but controlling techniques are applied to keep the dynamics on the desired trajectories. The results of simulations demonstrated the capability to anticipate and avoid extinction, keeping the population density above the threshold for the Allee effect.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
