Summary. -The importance and the variability of the transport of the ions Na+ and Cl-to the leaves in the halophyte Plantago maritima und in the glycophyte Plantago lanceo/ata are studied by growing them on saline and non-saline nutrient solutions. These plants are submitted to blunt variations of salinity. In the plants cultivated on saline medium, there is a transport of Na+ and CI-to the leaves of Planta go mari lima. In Planta go lanceolata, the transport is slighter and concerns only Na+. Further, if these plants arc removed on non-saline medium, it is observe
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
