Repeated pairing of an auditory conditioned stimulus with a weak visual unconditioned stimulus produced extended image sequences and visual responses conditioned to the tone alone. The experiment is set into the context of Pavlov's view of Helmholtz's "unconscious inference" thus providing experimental evidence linking the higher mental process of perception with classical conditioning.
This paper describes a dialect of Pascal which has bee n specially developed to provide students with practica l experience in courses on concurrent programming . I t describes the facilities of the language, and discusses th e importance of the scheduler which is provided in language implementations used for teaching .
A process abstraction, in Modula-2, is defined that is aimed at providing the primitives needed in the real-time domain. A concurrency model based upon occam is used but this is enhanced by a comprehensive set of selective wait constructs. All processes have identities and priorities; a run-time implementation kernel provides for preemptive scheduling. Significant parts of this implementation are illustrated and short examples of the use of the process abstraction are given.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
