The PA views and RAO views >or=40 degrees , heretofore unconventional in clinical routine, should be favored over steep LAO projections >or=40 degrees whenever possible. Tube angulations that are radiation intensive to the patient exponentially increase the operator's radiation risk.
The present experimental study on scatter radiation to the operator, as a function of body height and tube angulation, offers a representative data tool for all interventionists for use in invasive cardiology, to confirm the radiation safety of their favored coronary views, or to encourage less radiation-intensive angulations. Moreover, it provides new knowledge about special risks for crucial body regions and enables effective radiation protection strategies.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
