The work is based on an analysis of treatment results of 47 patients with congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia. The Ilizarov technique of unfree osteoplasty was applied on these patients. The authors considered an application of combined variants of exterior and external osteosynthesis as very perspective in rehabilitation of the patients with congenital pseudarthrosis.
State of maternal bone before and after lengthening was studied using computed tomography in 94 patients with shortening and deformities. It was shown that depending on shortening and deformity etiology the cortical plate possessed typical differences that consisted in different crosssectional shape and density. During distraction and fixation of the limb after its lengthening in the apparatus, cortical plate had a heterogeneous structure with resorption zones of different size and density in all groups of patients. Depending on the disease etiology and amount of lengthening organotypical bone remodeling after lengthening lasted for 1—3 years.
Semiotics of osteonecrosis and sequestration in femur has been studied on the basis of the data from roentgenography, linear tomography and computer tomography in 39 patients with transformation of acute hematogenous osteomyelitis into chronic one with the purpose of revealing the possible and most typical variants of proliferative changes in bone. It was established that during the process of assimilation the periosteal layers can convert into both compact bone and spongy bone. The average extent of periosteal layers in the shaft zone exceeded the size of destruction by 6.1±2.1 cm and the border of endosteal borders corresponded to that of periosteal layers. In metaphyseal zone the border of periosteal layers corresponded to the border of periosteal cambial layer and was not visualized by destruction spreading: the border of destruction could be located both proximally and distally to the periosteal layers' border.
Age-Related, Ultrasound and Histomorphological Features of Baker's CystThe aim of the study was to reveal the features of the morphological structure and ultrasonic signs of Baker's cyst in patients of different ages.Material and methods. The study is based on a sonographic study of 213 patients (mean age 57.2±9.9 years) and 10 children aged 6 to 10 years with a detected Baker cyst. The size of the cyst was studied, its position, relationship with surrounding tissues was examined on sonographic equipment. In addition, parameters were measured, including the thickness of the synovium, the presence of septa and echo-inclusions, the degree of echogenicity of the contents of the cyst. All patients underwent open extirpation of the cyst followed by its morphological analysis. All manipulations were carried out after signing the informed consent of the patient or his legal representatives according to the recommendations "About legal, legislative and ethical norms and requirements in the performance of scientific morphological studies".
