One of the curriculum’s expectations at the fourth semester of english department in Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan (IPTS) is students are able to write narrative text. But in fact, students’ writing narrative text ability is still low, so researcher conduct a research in that field. The purposes of this research are to find out: 1) the extent of students’ writing narrative text ability, and 2) the significant effect of using character oriented local wisdom based learning model on students’ writing narrative text ability at the fourth semester students of english department in IPTS. The method of research is mix method by combining quantitative and qualitative method. The researcher collected the data by using interview and composition writing test. The sample was taken by using total sampling technique, it was 25 students. The data were then analyzed by using descriptive and inferential analysis, it was t-test formula by Arikunto. The findings of the research are the mean score of students’ writing ability before using character oriented local wisdom based learning model was 53.54 which categorized bad, then after using character oriented local wisdom based learning model was 82.50 which categorized good. The hypothesis testing showed that t-test was higher than t-table, it means that the hypothesis is accepted. It clearly seen that there is a significant effect of character oriented local wisdom based learning model on students’ writing narrative text ability at the fourth semester students of english department in IPTS.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa menggunakan model Numbered Head Together pada tema 7 subtema 1 Keragaman Suku Bangsa dan Agama di Negeriku bagi siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 100308 Panompuan. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 34 siswa. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui lembar soal tes dan lembar observasi aktivitas siswa dan guru.Hasil belajar siswa diukur melalui tes yang dilaksanakan pada setiap akhir siklus. Hasil ketuntasan hasil belajar di siklus I adalah 19 siswa (55,8%) sudah mencapai KKM dan 15 siswa (44, 2%) yang belum mencapai KKM. Siklus II meningkat menjadi 28 siswa (82,3%) sudah mencapai KKM dan 6 siswa (17,7%) belum mencapai KKM. Peningkatan hasil belajar mencapai 26,5%. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan, peningkatan aktivitas siswa mencapai 22,2% dan peningkatan aktivitas guru mencapai 10%. Hal tersebut dapat membuktikan bahwa dengan menggunakan model Numbered Head Together dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada tema 7 subtema 1 dikelas IV SD Negeri 100308 Panompuan. Abstarct This study aims to improve student achievement by applying Numbered Head Together model on the theme of 7 sub-themes 1 “Keragaman Suku Bangsa dan Agama di Negeriku” at fourth grade students’ of SD Negeri 100308 Panompuan. The research subjects are 34 students’. The type of research used classroom action research. The technique of collecting data are test question sheets and students’ and teacher activity observation sheets. Students’ achievement are measured through tests carried out at the end of each cycle. The results of the research showed students’ achievement at the first cycle are 19 students’ (55.8%) who have reached the KKM and 15 students’ (44.2%) who have not reached the KKM. The second cycle increased to 28 students’ (82.3%) have reached the KKM and 6 students’ (17.7%) have not reached the KKM. The increase in achievement reached 26.5%. Based on observations, the increase in students’ activity reached 22.2% and the increase in teacher activity reached 10%. This resule can prove that applying Numbered Head Together model can improve students’ achievement on theme 7 sub-theme 1 “Keragaman Suku Bangsa dan Agama di Negeriku” at fourth grade students’ of SD Negeri 100308 Panompuan. This study investigates the metaphor of modality in Mata Najwa Talk Show on Metro TV based on SLF approach. The objectives of this study are to identify the orientation of modality used in Mata Najwa Talk Show, to describe the orientation of metaphor of modality are used, and to explain the context of situation those metaphor of modality are used. The research design used is descriptive qualitative. The data were taken from three episodes in Mata Najwa talk show about KPK. The data were collected by downloading the video of Mata Najwa talk show from the internet. The finding shows that from four types of orientation of modality, the dominant orientation used in Mata Najwa Talk Show is objective implicit. It means that the speakers use congruent form of modality dominantly while expressing their judgment and attitude. The use of metaphor of modality in Mata Najwa Talk Show realized by the use of incongruent types of expressing meaning, that is by using projecting clause, nominalization and using preposition.
