We present an extensive study of the static and dynamic properties of systems of spin-polarized tritium atoms. In particular, we calculate the two-body |F, mF = |0, 0 s-wave scattering length and show that it can be manipulated via a Feshbach resonance at a field strength of about 870 G. Such a resonance might be exploited to make and control a BoseEinstein condensate of tritium in the |0, 0 state. It is further shown that the quartet tritium trimer is the only bound hydrogen isotope and that its single vibrational bound state is a Borromean state. The ground state properties of larger spinpolarized tritium clusters are also presented and compared with those of helium clusters. 05.30.Jp,34.50, In 1976 [1], Stwalley and Nosanow suggested, based on statistical arguments, that the system of spin-polarized bosonic tritium atoms behaves "very much like 4 He". To the best of our knowledge, their arguments have not yet been tested by a microscopic quantum mechanical treatment. A detailed theoretical study of spin-polarized tritium systems, namely spin-polarized atomic tritium clusters and optically-pumped tritium condensates, is the objective of the present work. In this Letter, we present results for both structural and scattering properties of tritium dimers, trimers, and clusters.Pioneering experimental studies of the lowest quartet state of spin-polarized atomic trimers have been pursued recently for sodium and potassium [2]. Study of these trimers, which were prepared on the surface of large 4 He clusters, revealed that three-body effects are surprisingly important [3]. We are not aware, though, of any experimental or theoretical studies of larger spin-polarized atomic cluster systems. Bosonic helium systems -i.e. liquid bulk 4 He, two-dimensional 4 He films, and finite size 4 He N clusters [4] -have, of course, been studied extensively. This Letter thus presents the first predictions for spin-polarized atomic clusters. In particular, we characterize spin-polarized tritium clusters [in the following denoted by (T↑) N ] with up to N = 40 tritium atoms, and compare their energetic and structural properties with those of bosonic 4 He N clusters. We hope that this study will stimulate further experimental work. Of particular interest is the lowest quartet state of the tritium trimer, which we predict to be a Borromean or halo state, and tritium cluster formation in the presence of an external magnetic field.We also point out the possibility for creating an optically-pumped gaseous tritium condensate. BoseEinstein condensates (BECs) are, to first order, well characterized by the two-body s-wave scattering length between two atoms. It will be shown below that the triplet two-body s-wave scattering length a t of two tritium atoms is large and negative, implying an unstable condensate of spin-polarized tritium atoms. The purpose of this study is to evaluate usability and patient satisfaction with telemedicine in pediatric orthopedics using validated questionnaires and to identify demographic and clinical factors that may impact these ratings. All caregivers of patients who had telemedicine visits with a single fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeon between 23 March 2020 and 3 June 2020 were eligible to participate. Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire (PSQ) and the Telehealth Usability Questionnaire (TUQ) rated on a 4-point Likert scale (1 = poor, 2 = fair, 3 = good and 4 = excellent) were used. Additional information regarding the level of education, mode of transportation, technology usage, demographics, visit diagnosis and length of visit were collected. Quantitative analysis was performed. A total of 68.6% (83/121) of the visits were done via telemedicine. Around 46 surveys were completed with a response rate of 55.4% (46/83). The PSQ mean score was 3.63 ± 0.39 with non-English-speaking caregivers scoring lower compared to their Englishspeaking counterparts (3.4 ± 0.47 vs. 3.72 ± 0.33; P = 0.017). PSQ mean score increased with increasing length of visit (r = 0.352; P = 0.018). A total of 86.8% (839/966) of all TUQ's responses were good to excellent with 89.1% (41/46) of responders were satisfied with telemedicine and 91.3% (42/46) would use it again. Although the topic is an evolving one, and a lot of changes should be expected in the future, certain characteristics such as primary language and length of visit may affect the levels of satisfaction with the use of telemedicine in pediatric orthopedics. Knowledge regarding satisfaction ratings may allow orthopedic surgeons to improve patient care delivered through this technology. Level of Evidence: IV.
Background: In the modern digital age, patients are increasingly consulting online physician reviews prior to making healthcare decisions. Physician review websites are being used in many medical fields including orthopaedic surgery. The purpose of this study is to investigate trends in online physician reviews and determine which factors are most strongly correlated with the likelihood that an orthopaedic surgeon is to be recommended by patients. Methods: Healthgrades.com, the most comprehensive physician rating and comparison database, was queried for “orthopaedic surgery” in the state of New Jersey. Demographic information, fellowship training status, years of experience, malpractice/disciplinary actions, physician ratings and the likelihood to recommend score (LTRS) was collected for all physicians. Quantitative analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, student t-test, and one-way ANOVA. Qualitative analysis of randomly selected positive comments and all negative comments was conducted. Common themes were identified using frequency-based word cloud generator. Results: 834 board certified orthopaedic surgeons (800 Males, 34 Females), with a mean age of 55.7±12.5 years and an average LTRS of 4.1±0.84 were included for analysis. Compared with non-fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeons, fellowship trained surgeons were more likely to be recommend by patients [3.8 vs. 4.3; P< 0.0001]. Physicians with waiting time <10min were more likely to be recommended compared with their counterparts with waiting time >10min (P< 0.0001). No differences were observed in LTRS between male and female orthopaedic surgeons (P= 0.79) or based on malpractice status (P= 0.61). Qualitative analysis of a randomly selected sample of 4,151 out of a total of 12,168 positive comments and 1,113 total negative comments revealed that positive comments centered on surgeon competence and professionalism, while negative comments centered on surgeon personality and waiting time. Conclusion: Orthopaedic surgeons have generally favorable ratings and mostly positive comments. Fellowship status and waiting time are important factors that impact LTRS. Patients were more likely to write positive comments about surgeon competence and professionalism, and negative comments pertaining to surgeon personality and waiting time. Knowledge of surgeon specific attributes that are important to patients may help educate orthopaedic surgeons to improve patient care, patient satisfaction and online ratings. Purpose Clubfoot is the most common congenital foot deformity in children. Caregivers often seek medical information on the internet. The aim of the study was to characterize how social media is used by caregivers to access medical information. Methods A search was performed on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube platforms. Information was quantitatively assessed. Comments were qualitatively assessed, and the Kruskal-Wallis test was used to study thematic comment distribution. Results In total, 58 Facebook groups and pages, 109 YouTube accounts and ten Twitter accounts related to clubfoot were discovered from 2007 to 2019. Facebook groups and pages had a collective 56 123 members and 80 544 total likes, respectively. YouTube had a collective 3 280 454 views, with 54 969 total comments throughout the accounts. Comment themes most commonly included sharing information and advice (38.7%), appreciation and success stories (12.8%), emotional support (12.7%) and social media as a second opinion (11.9%). Facebook groups contained a significantly higher number of comments related to ‘social media as a second opinion’ compared with Facebook pages (p = 0.001), Twitter (p = 0.016) and YouTube (p < 0.0001) while YouTube contained a significantly lower number of comments related to ‘sharing information’ compared with Facebook groups, pages and Twitter (p < 0.0001). Conclusion Social media continues to be a growing tool for information sharing and the findings of this study highlight the importance placed by caregivers on the advice of their peers. The online presence of caregivers may represent an opportunity for orthopaedic surgeons to communicate with patients and help them make informed decisions. Level of evidence IV
