The synthesis of a linear polymer with pendent γ‐cyclodextrins based on polyallylamine (PAA), a commercially available linear polymer, is described. After the reaction of the polyallylamine with mono‐functionalized γ‐cyclodextrin derivatives, linear polymers with pendent γ‐cyclodextrins were obtained. One compound was less water‐soluble than the starting materials. By masking the remaining unreacted amines, an uncharged, highly water‐soluble polymer was obtained.
synopsisThe high resolution nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum of poly(Viny1 formate), yielded, upon examination a t 100 Mc./sec., and under the conditions of decoupling, information on the three tactic forms present. The normal and decoupled spectra indicate that only the CHO resonance is sensitive to the stereochemical configuration. The three components of the CHO resonance are tentatively assigned to h t a c t i c (i), heterotactic (h), and syndiotactic ( 5 ) triads with increasing field strength, respectively. This assignment was made on the basis of poly(viny1 alcohol) and poJy(viny1 acetate) derived from poly(viny1 formate). The results show that the tacticity is slightly d e pendent upon the temperature of freeradical polymerization.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
