New Synthetic Pathways into the Organometallic Chemistry of Gallium.-Ultrasonic irradiation of Ga metal with alkyl iodides (II) and I2 (III) rapidly gives the Ga(III) compounds (IV) via a reactive intermediate material "GaI". This "GaI", generated by sonication of Ga and I2 in toluene and isolated, also inserts into the metal-iodine bonds of (. eta.5-C5H4Me)Mo(CO)3I and (η5-C5H5)Fe(CO)2I as witnessed by the synthesis of the binuclear complexes (V) and (VI) (for both space group P1, Z = 2) whose structures are determined by X-ray analysis. -(GREEN, M. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
