Myxoid liposarcoma of the spermatic cord (MLSC) is a rare variance of spermatic sarcomas, with only 14 previous cases having been reported. Typically it presents during the seventh decade of life as a painless scrotal or inguinal mass. Although local recurrences are not uncommon, prognosis following complete tumour removal is good because metastases are rare. We describe one new case of a 24-year-old male with incidental MLSC found during inguinal hernia repair, and also review the existing literature.
Primary renal malignant fibrous histiocytoma is a rare tumor of the kidney. We report an additional case noting, as other authors have, the similarity in clinical presentation with renal cell carcinoma. We also review the 23 documented cases of the international literature, emphasizing the current diagnostic approaches and therapeutic management.
We describe an innovative interventional technique for the repair of a postoperative enterocutaneous fistula (ECF). In the reported case, surgical repair of the ECF was contraindicated, while endoscopic closure was unsuccessful. Correction of this high-outflow fistula was achieved using an Amplatzer septal occluder, which was deployed under simultaneous fluoroscopic and endoscopic guidance. The use of an Amplatzer septal occluder should be taken into consideration when there is a need to treat high-outflow ECF in patients who cannot undergo surgery.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
