The development of the reproductive biotechnologies has provided improvements on the techniques that are used to collect, analyze, handle and send the semen. This fact makes these techniques totally necessary to guarantee the spermatic quality and also increase the fertility rates. This review aimed to elucidate in a practical way the most recent techniques applied to the immediate and mediate analyses in addition to the equine’s semen deliver. The viability spermatic analyses are initiated with the semen collecting and they are ranked into immediate analysis (considering color, volume, appearance, odor, mobility and vigor) and mediate analysis (considering concentration and morphology). Both analyses need to be taken as regular to the species. To the semen’s sending is necessary refresh or refrigerate the sample properly in isothermal boxes to provide their conservation. The proper semen’s manipulation, analysis and sending are of utmost importance to horse breeding because this way it is possible to evaluate each stallion’s spermatozoon’s morph functions characteristics and to adjust the techniques and available means to the necessity of every individual, increasing these animals’ breeding rate.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
