Comparative biometric investigations indicate that Afiirex irunctrlus is better adapted to high sublittoral waters than Afrirex braadoris. Its sturdier and relatively more pronounced shell and its higher physical density provide Afrirex irrincrilus with better protection against being crushed under the conditions of the littoral. Yet there are no differences between the two species in the'r energy requirements in waters of different salinities.
