The objective of this paper is to analyze the development of dynamic capabilities in the process of hospital accreditation, using case study methodology. Data were collected through semistructured interviews, observation and document analysis and analyzed through content analysis techniques. We found that deliberate learning and relationships were the principal sources for capability creation, and that they were renewed and recombined along the way. Periods of convergence punctuated by strategic reorientation allowed us to conclude that the changes adhered to the punctuated equilibrium model. The outcomes of this study advance the findings documented in the literature about the construction of a formative path of dynamic capabilities, understanding the duality of operational and dynamic capabilities, and comprehending the mechanisms by which capabilities are developed.
Objective: to analyze the behavior of technology transfer capability over time in Brazilian public institutions of higher education. Method: the extended case method was adopted in two national institutions of reference in technology transfer management. Interviews, observations, and document analysis were the main techniques for data collection. The analysis was performed using also the techniques of the extended case method. Results: became evident that the behavior of a capacity, during its existence, may not obey a linear curve, but vary over different stages and undergo different mutations. Conclusions: it was concluded that the lifecycle of a capability would not be exactly equivalent or limited to the heuristic of a biological lifecycle with predictable entropy until the total collapse. Unlike this, considering the environment and the conjuncture, a capability can come back to exist as long as it is understood as opportune and feasible. The findings advance the understanding of the technology transfer process that now has the explanatory potential of dynamic capabilities.
O artigo teve por objetivo identificar e analisar a influência da dimensão política do processo decisório no contexto do planejamento de vendas e operações (SOP). Para tanto, tomando como base teórica a visão relacional e os efeitos do poder nas organizações, aspectos como a formação de coalizões e uso de mecanismos de controle foram ressaltados. Realizou-se um estudo de caso em duas empresas do setor de alimentos cuja coleta de dados se deu a partir de entrevistas semiestruturadas, observação in loco e análise documental. Os dados foram analisados via análise de conteúdo com categorias advindas da literatura e dos relatos dos entrevistados. Apesar das evidências de coalizões com diferentes relações de poder e mecanismos de controle, os resultados mostraram em ambos os casos, a estratégia empresarial como elemento de suporte e legitimação à formação destes grupos e a forte influência das relações interpessoais no acesso aos decisores estratégicos.
