Objective: to conduct a systematic review of the literature on the characterization of publications on burns in Brazil and changes resulting from trauma Methods and Results: The databases LILACS, BDENF, MEDLINE, SciELO and the Portal of Periodicals of CAPES were searched, according to the methodology of PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes). Data were collected following a structured script containing: author, database, year, type of study/approach, Journal, research place, gender, age, event location, etiologic agent, depth, the percentage of body surface burned and systemic changes caused by the burns. Of 49 studies identified, 16 met the inclusion criteria. Analyzing the sample for the event characteristics, it was observed a higher incidence of accidents in males. The main causes of burns were heated by liquid, followed by direct flame. Regarding the classification, the most frequent injury was the 2 nd
Introduction: Burned patient care needs the involvement of a multidisciplinary team, and nursing is a key role in this care since it is the professional category in constant contact with the patient and his family. However, nursing faces challenges on the care for burned victims and their constant exposure to suffering and pain. Objective: To identify the challenges of the nursing staff in the care of burned patients according to scientific literature. Method: This is a literature research, conducted between April and May/2016 in the Latin American databases and Caribbean Health Sciences (LILACS), the Nursing Database (BDENF) and the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System online (MEDLINE), available on the Virtual Health Library (VHL), and Google Scholar, using the keywords: "Nursing" and "Burn Units" with Boolean operator AND. The keywords crossing resulted in 282 scientific publications, of which 14 articles were selected addressing the topic, through the inclusion criteria: full-text availability, published between 2011 to May/2016, in Portuguese and English. The articles in duplicate (published in more than one selected database) were excluded.
Objective: To share the nursing students' experiences in high technological density services in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Unit, highlighting the importance of practical activities supervised in the learning process.
Methods and results:This article is a descriptive study of experience report by Nursing students at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, during the practical activities supervised in Intensive Care and Emergency Units, held on May 02 to May 19, 2016. This experience gave the students a sizing on nursing care in their respective sectors. Thus, the results were listed in three categories: 1) Work process, 2) Procedures performed and 3) Acquired skills and abilities.
Conclusion:The practical activities experienced by the students provided a sizing on the knowledge on the care practice to patients assisted in the high-density technology sectors, having critical thinking and the applicability of clinical reasoning and diagnosis.
