A Spreadsheet Excel application for chromatographic peak characterization is described in this article. Data are exported from HPLC specific program to an Excel file with macros to perform basic calculations as retention time, height, and area of the peaks. From these values, peak resolution, asymmetry, or theoretical plates are calculated and presented in a clear and direct mode. The application may be used as a teaching tool of chromatographic concepts when no HPLC equipment is available. Besides the education purpose, the application may be used for accurate measurement of peak resolution or theoretical plate number by non-usual methods when these features are not included in commercial peak integration software
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
