Abstract. In the conditions of the current economic downturn engineering companies in Russia and worldwide are searching for new approaches and frameworks to improve their strategic position, increase the efficiency of the internal business processes and enhance the quality of the final products. Capability maturity models are well-known tools used by many foreign engineering companies to assess the productivity of the processes, to elaborate the program of business process improvement and to prioritize the efforts to optimize the whole company performance. The impact of capability maturity model implementation on cost and time are documented and analyzed in the existing research. However, the potential of maturity models as tools of quality management is less known. The article attempts to analyze the impact of CMM implementation on the quality issues. The research is based on a case study methodology and investigates the real life situation in a Russian engineering company.
Abstract-Professional social networking sites are widely used as a tool for obtaining specific information such as technology trends and professional skills demand. The article is aimed to consider the evolution of services for professional communities through integration of analysis of the patent activity, analysis of the academic research activity and analysis of the labour market trends. Authors have developed the prototype of a predictive learning software service which intended to fill the gap between professional social networking sites and e-learning systems, including massive open online course systems. It includes functionality for monitoring of professional skills demand on the labour market and analysis of patents for each corresponding technology. The software service will help to determine demand for professional skills, to actualise an applicant's skillset, to organise professional communities and to build individual learning programs for studying of skills and technologies which are predicted to grow in demand on the labour market.
Engineering projects are characterized by high significance of the risk management. One of the most important tasks of the project risk management is risk prioritization. Prioritization implies that the probability and impact of risks on a project are estimated. The risk probability can be calculated with the help of different methods of random variable estimation. The article shows that though the probabilistic, scenario, expert and statistical methods can be used in practice of project risk management, in the projects characterized by the high uncertainty, such as engineering projects, the robust methods proved to be more productive and reliable. One of the widely used practical tools of risk prioritization is risk matrix which sometimes called also as probability and impact matrix. The risk matrix includes two dimensionsprobability of risks and impact of risks on a project. The article suggests that instead of the risk matrix in engineering projects the more flexible 992 G. Bubnov et al. approach can be applied. This approach is based on the application of the risk maps and isorisk curves. The isorisk curves and risk maps seem to be especially useful for engineering projects with big number of various risks and very dynamic environments.
Abstract. At the present time the technology market is constantly growing, new technologies emerge every day so it makes it hard to track all of them and evaluate their potential. As the retraining process takes significant time, the acute need to change the staff training approach from reactive to proactive arises. There are services for monitoring and modeling purposes developed by Quid, Owlin, Djinni. Another approach is the expert analysis. But every of the defined information sources has its drawbacks, which leads to a decision to develop a software and mathematical solution. The article suggests methods of skills demand monitoring for the IT sector, based on comprehensive monitoring of the Web, including employers' demands, company history and publications.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
