A General Procedure for the Fluorodenitration of Aromatic Substrates.-Treatment of several nitroarenes, e.g. (I) and (III), with potassium fluoride in the presence of phthaloyl difluoride or tetrafluorophthaloyl difluoride as a nitrite ion trap results in fluorodenitration, forming the corresponding fluoroaromatic compounds ( II) and (IV) respectively.
