In this paper the influence of the flight control system over the off-nominal flying dynamics of a remotely operated air vehicle is evaluated. Of particular interest is the departure/upset behaviour of
Despite the significant improvement in safety linked to the fourth generation of airliners, the risk of encountering upset conditions remains an important consideration.Upset -which may arise from faults, external events or inappropriate pilot inputs spins. The analysis shows that these spirals and spins are connected in two-parameter space and that, by an inappropriate pilot reaction to the spiral, it is possible to enter the oscillatory spin.
This paper presents a high-¦delity generic twin engine civil aircraft model developed by Airbus for advanced §ight control system research. The main features of this benchmark are described to make the reader aware of the model complexity and representativeness. It is a complete representation including the nonlinear rigid-body aircraft model with a full set of control surfaces, actuator models, sensor models, §ight control laws (FCL), and pilot inputs. Two applications of this benchmark in the framework of European projects are presented: FCL clearance using optimization and advanced fault detection and diagnosis (FDD).
Abstract-This paper presents a method to obtain a Linear Fractional Transformation (LFT) model from a set of numerical flexible aircraft models. The core of the method lies in a polynomial interpolation, but before this step, some cautious treatments must be applied to the numerical models for them to be interpolable. First the models have to be reduced to be exploitable, while ensuring they all keep the same consistent modal content and avoiding numerical problems. Second the interpolation of the reduced models state representations can only be processed if the state vector has the same physical meaning for the whole model set (state vector consistency). For this problem, a specific state coordinate transformation is emphasized. After models are interpolated, the LFT is computed with the LFR toolbox's generalized Morton method. Then the LFT accuracy can be improved through a biconvex optimization.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
