This study evaluated cryopreserved homografts (Group 1) and porcine heterografts decellularized with deoxicholic acid (Group 2), implanted in the right ventricular outflow tract of juvenile sheep. Two groups with four animals in each were used and all animals survived with good outcome. Animals were sacrificed 90 or more days after surgery (90-150 days). On the third and fifth postoperative months they were submitted to echocardiographic examination with normal function and appearance observed for both groups. Explants were evaluated through histological analysis, atomic spectrophotometry and radiological examination. Calcium content was higher in the cusps of cryopreserved homografts, despite an otherwise similar macroscopic appearance between grafts of both groups. Decellularized heterografts were progressively repopulated by autologous cells suggesting some regenerative ability and longer durability than conventional homografts.
Class III malocclusion is one of the most common deformities that requires correction through orthodontic-surgical treatment. These patients present different facial patterns depending on the occlusal plane angulation. These patients may benefit from surgical manipulation of the occlusal plane, because only bite correction does not always lead to the improvement of the facial deformity. The purpose of this paper is to show the surgical manipulation of the occlusal plane in Class III patients based on five features: 1) facial type, 2) upper incisor display at rest, 3) dental exposure during smile, 4) soft tissue support, and 5) chin projection. The surgical manipulation of the occlusal plane can improve the esthetic outcome in the treatment of class III deformities, and careful evaluation of the five features described could be a helpful planning method.
Acta bot. bras. Prata-anã) cultivadas in vitro). Palavras-chave: cera, estômato, banana ABSTRACT -(Morphoanatomical characteristics of the leaf epidermis of variant plants and somaclonal non-variants of banana trees (Musa sp. Colla cv. Prata-anã) cultivated in vitro). Somaclonal variation corresponds to the emergence of abnormal plants during the process of multiplication in vitro, mainly related to stature, in the case the gigantism. The aim of this work was to discover morphoanatomical differences of the leaf epidermis in an attempt to differentiate plants of "Prata-anã" from their somaclonal variants. Analysis by scanning electronic microscopy showed significant difference between the polar diameter of the stomata of the "Prata-anã" non-variant and its variants, both in vitro. The same does not happen for plants in vivo. The average number of stomata is lower in the somaclonal variant plants, but without significant differences except for plant PIII. Wax peeling is only evident in the variant plants of both the in vitro and in vivo material. We concluded that morphoanatomical characters of the leaf epidermis, such as stomatal density, polar stomatal diameter and wax uniformity act as morphological markers to characterize the micropropagated plants of "Prata-anã" in relation to the somaclonal variants for the characteristic gigantism.
The flower extract of B. ungulata is the most suitable for further studies on this inhibition.
ABSTRACT: Allelopathic effect and analysis of bottle labels commercialized in the municipal market of Montes Claros -MG.This study aimed to analyze the allelopathic effect and label of plant products put in bottles commercialized in the municipal market of Montes Claros -MG. Eight bottles were employed to treat, each one, 20 lettuce seeds (Lactuca sativa L.) placed at Petri plaques over saturated paper with 4mL of the content of each bottle in 04 concentrations of 12.5; 25; 50; 75% for each bottle, 1% of zinc sulfate solution (positive control) and 3 negative control groups (containing mineral water, tap water and distilled water). The Petri plaques were sealed with plastic film, covered with plastic bag and incubated in the dark for seven days at an average temperature of 27.2°C and average humidity of 54%. After 7 days, it was measured the length of the radicle and the hypocotyl (mm) of each one of the seedlings and the number of seeds that germinated was quantified. The data were submitted to analysis of variance by Sisvar software and the results were compared by Scot-Knott Test at a nominal level of 5%. The results of the germination test indicated that there was a significant impact of the bottles in the germination of the lactuca sativa L. seeds, where the percentage of seeds germination was inversely proportional to the concentration increase in the analyzed bottles. Therefore, it has been observed that the bottles presented allelopathic potential when they inhibited the germination of lettuce seeds.
