Crustacean hyperglycemic hormone (CHH) was isolated from sinus glands of Carcinus maenas, and its primary structure was determined by manual microsequencing, using the DABITC-PITC double-coupling method. The neurohormone consists of 72 amino acid residues (8524 Da). Three disulfide bridges are present and both the N-and C-terminus are blocked.CHH does not show significant sequence homology to any known peptide hormone or protein.Amino acid sequence; Crustacean hyperglycemic hormone; Neuropeptide; (Carcinus maenas)
Locust adipokinetic hormones I (ΑΚΗ I) and II (ΑΚΗ II) are separated by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography using a μ-Bondapak phenyl column with a trifluoroacetic acid/acetonitrile gradient. The eluant was monitored at 210 nm and the hyperlipaemic activity was detected using a bioassay. The amino-acid composition of ΑΚΗ II was determined after acid hydrolysis with HC1 or methanesulfonic acid. Die folgenden Aminos urereste konnten ann herungsweise in quimolaren Konzentrationen bestimmt werden: Asp, Ser, Glu, Gly, Ala, Leu, Phe und Trp.Key words: Reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography, locust adipokinetic hormone I and II, amino-acid composition of locust adipokinetic hormone II.Locust corpora cardiaca contain an adipokinetic hormone (AKH)l 1 » 2 ! which mobilises specific diacylglycerols during flight^ and stimulates their oxidation by the flight muscles^4!. ΑΚΗ has been characterised as a blocked decapeptidel 5 ! and the structure confirmed by synthesis^6!. Recentlyi ? l, a second peptide (ΑΚΗ II) exhibiting adipokinetic activity in locusts and red pigment-concentrating hormone activity in shrimps has been found in locust corpora
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
