TRAUMATIC ARTERIOVENOUS FISTULA OF THE SUPERFICIAL TEMPORAL ARTERY "RARE CASE" AbstractThe superficial temporal artery is particularly vulnerable to trauma because of its long journey throughout the scalp and relative vulnerability; however, the scalp arteriovenous fistulas are an uncommon finding. We report a case of a female patient who 2 years after a scalp wounding injury presents with a superficial temporal artery (STA) traumatic arteriovenous fistula (TAVF), treated successfully by surgical removal. We review the literature regarding the etiology, clinical manifestations, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment.
