Curricular transformations in engineering degrees, aimed at achieving vocational training based on the competenciesoriented approach (COA), makes it imperative that teachers acquire not only the didactic pedagogical knowledge more typical of humanistic schools than technological ones but also the intention of the mentioned approach in order to implement it efficiently. This present work presents the actions carried out in the Mechanical Engineering Department to prepare the teaching staff, in terms of advice, coordination and academic areas of discussion that allow them to adapt their curricular spaces to the new approach. Having achieved a high level of commitment in the teaching staff, it can be affirmed that they are ready to face the future accreditation processes based on 2nd generation standards for Engineering education..
