Background: Active learning strategies and the use of technology in classes have been widely indicated to enhance learning. Although much has been discussed on these topics, few studies have addressed them with adequate experimental designs. Therefore, this study investigated the effect of a strategy coupling active learning methodology and technology –video lectures production by students – on the students’ learning in comparison with traditional approaches. Methods: To investigate the impact of video production on students’ learning, approximately half of one class of undergraduate students in a Pharmacy program attended traditional classes on one of its modules, while the other half was instructed to elaborate video lectures about the same content. We recorded their scores in two exams on the topic covered by the video lectures, one prior to intervention and the second after the intervention. We also recorded their score in a final exam at the end of the course, which covered all modules in the course, and applied a questionnaire to assess students’ perceptions about the applied methodology. Results: The average score of the students in the video group became 46% higher than the control group’s score. The score on the final exam at the end of the course showed no difference between groups. Most of the students reported that the video lectures they produced in class improved their academic performance. Conclusions: The video lecture production activity, a teaching instrument that relies on active learning and technology, was able to improve learning indicators of a group of randomly selected students in comparison with a control group of students who attended traditional expository classes given by an instructor.

O uso de substâncias alternativas com atividade antifúngica como a partir de óleos essenciais com agentes terapêuticos tem aumentado e tem sido uma alternativa terapêutica para infeções fúngicas. O presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar uma revisão integrativa que aborde o potencial antifúngico do Cymbopogon citratus em ante cepas causadoras de dermatomicoses causadas por Candida albicans. Foram selecionados artigos publicados nas bases de dados PUBMED e SciELO, utilizando os descritores: “Candida” “Capim-limão”, “Cymbopogon citratus”, “dermatomicoses”, “fungos”, “lemongrass”, “micoses”, “microbioma”, “pele”. Adotando como critérios de inclusão estudos que apresentavam alguma relação e importância com o tema da revisão. A seleção de inclusão dos artigos resultou em 84 estudos, os quais 24 comprovaram o potencial antifúngico do Cymbopogon citratus contra cepas de Candida albicans. Os estudos com o óleo essencial de C. citratus mostraram eficácia fungistática e fungicida dependendo da dose. Entretanto, é necessário cautela para o uso, visto que a maioria dos estudos foram realizados in vitro, e não foram encontrados estudos significativos do uso in vivo em casos de dermatomicoses. Conclui-se que o vegetal estudade apresenta ação antifúngica ante a levedura do gênero Candida causadora de dermatomicoses.
A Síndrome do Intestino Irritável (SII) ainda não possui uma causa específica, porém, há diversos fatores que contribuem para o desenvolvimento dessa doença, dentre eles, estão: consumo excessivo de alimentos industrializados, desregulação da microbiota intestinal, estresse, hormônios, dentre outras doenças, portanto, na maioria das vezes, o diagnóstico é realizado através da exclusão de sintomas. O objetivo deste estudo foi compreender como o probiótico auxilia na prevenção da Síndrome do Intestino do Irritável. Para a execução do trabalho, realizou-se uma revisão da literatura sobre o uso de probióticos na Síndrome do Intestino Irritável. A seleção de fontes de pesquisa se baseou em publicações encontradas nas bases de dados: Google Acadêmico, Lilacs via Bireme, Biblioteca Virtual Scielo, dentre outros. Sendo assim, o aumento do número de casos da Síndrome do Intestino Irritável faz-se necessário o uso profilático de probióticos para reduzir os sintomas dessa síndrome e consequentemente, reduzir os custos com tratamentos e internações.
Aromatherapy is an integrative and complementary practice practiced for centuries, which uses essential oils for therapeutic purposes. These substances are products of volatile concentration from a plant-derived source and can be applied topically, inhaled and orally. The Lavander angustifolia It is used to improve sleep quality for its anxiolytic and sedative properties. Thus, the objective of this work is to verify the use of essential oil of Lavander angustifolia with aromatherapy, in improving sleep quality. A bibliographic review was carried out. The selection of research sources was based on publications found in databases such as PUBMED, Google academic and SciELO. Among the articles found, those dated between 2012 and 2022, and published in Portuguese and English, were selected. Some studies show positive results from the use of lavender essential oil in the quality of sleep due to the simple way of application and no adverse effects.
