Experimental investigations were performed on strain characteristic of filament wound composite cylinder. Cylinders are wound with S-1 glass fiber and epoxy resin, and then subjected to an axial tension. During loading, strains at three fiber crossing position and one laminate region on cylinder’s surface are measured by gauges for better understanding strain field. For all specimens, strains at fiber crossing positions are larger than that of laminate region. This indicates that fiber undulation caused by winding process affects mechanical response of filament wound composites.
In the twin-roll strip casting process, analyses of heat transfer and deformation for the casting roll sleeve are carried out by using the finite element program ANSYS to examine the the thermal crown. The effects of several factors such as molten pool temperature, heat flux onto the roll surface and roll edge, heat flux onto the cooling channels, and cooling water temperature on thermal crown are investigated. The results show that the thermal crown does not change sharply during the casting process, after the casting roll reaches thermal equilibrium.
Effect of winding tension on elastic modulus of filament wound composite pipes were investigated with experiments in this paper. Three winding tension configuration were utilized and axial tension experiments were carried out. quantity of fiber tension descent from inner to outside in each configuration, which is always used in practices. The result of experiment shows that elastic modulus increase with fiber tension's raising and effect of fiber tension is not too remarkable.
A Load-type Commercial Motor-vehicle of Passenger Transport was studied as the research subject in researching front crash safety evaluation technology of front structure by the real car crash test methods, which is to explore the front crash safety evaluation technology suitable for china's National conditions. The results show that the Testing procedure and Evaluation will not only conducive to the carrying out of Commercial Motor-vehicles of Passenger Transport access about structural safety detection, but also played an important role in promoting the safety of the domestic bus, road transport safety, and social harmony.
The characteristic of internal structure of filament wound composite is investigated by experiment in this article. Cylinders manufactured by two kinds of fiber, E-glass and carbon, and epoxy resin, are cut into several pieces along the winding direction. The sections of pieces are observed with optic microscope. The result shows that there are two kinds of structure in filament wound composite, laminate area and undulating area, consisting of interwoven fiber band in different directions. Undulating quantity is measured at a series of points along undulating fiber band; a linear model is adopted to model geometrical shape of undulation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
