ABSTRAKUpaya untuk meningkatkan derajat kesehatan masyarakat menjadi hal yang sangat penting untuk mencapai taraf hidup yang lebih baik. Salah satu strategi untuk mencapai derajat kesehatan masyarakat adalah dengan memberikan pemahaman dan kesadaran masyarakat untuk menerapkan pola hidup bersih yang dimulai dari tingkat keluarga atau rumah tangga, lingkungan sekolah dan masyarakat luas. Program pengabdian masyarakat yang diinisiasi oleh Majelis Kesehatan Umum dan Pelayanan Sosial Pimpinan Wilayah Muhammadiyah Maluku Utara ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman masyarakat untuk memiliki kesadaran tinggi dan potensi diri untuk menjaga kesehatan melalui pengenalan Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS). Metode pelaksanaan adalah dengan (1) penyuluhan tentang praktek PHBS di tingkat rumah tangga, (2) penyuluhan tentang PHBS di tingkat institusi pendidikan, (3) praktek cuci tangan yang benar pada murid sekolah, dan (4) pemberdayaan masyarakat dengan kegiatan menjaga kebersihan lingkungan. Kegiatan ini melibatkan seluruh masyarakat desa Posi-posi berjumlah 84 rumah tangga dan 60 murid SD Inpres Posi-posi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan ada peningkatan pengetahuan rumah tangga dan murid SD tentang PHBS dan seluruh murid telah mampu untuk mencuci tangan dengan benar. ABSTRACTTo achieve a better standard of living, it need an effort to promote public health. One strategy to achieve the level of public health is to provide an understanding and awareness of the community to implement a clean lifestyle that begin at the family level, the environment, and society at large. The community service program initiated by the General Health and Social Services Council of Muhammadiyah North Maluku Regional Leadership was aimed to increase the knowledge and understanding of the community to have high awareness and potential to maintain health through the introduction of Clean and Healthy Behavior (PHBS). The method of implementations was to (1) the counseling of the practice of PHBS at the household level, (2) counseling of PHBS in the level of educational institutions, (3) practice proper hand washing at students, and (4) community empowerment to maintain environmental hygiene. This activities involved the whole community of Posi-posi representing 84 households, and 60 students of SD Inpres Posi-posi. The results show that there was an increased knowledge of households and students about PHBS, and all students have been able to wash their hands properly. The program was also assisted by public health students so that they can practice their knowledge gained in college.
Canarium indicum nut produce vegetable oil which comprised of triglycerides with fatty acids composition. In this paper, mechanical pressing and solvent extraction methods were performance to extract oils of Canarium indicum nut. Fatty acids profile of Canarium indicum oils were determined using high-performance liquid chromatography. In addition, physicochemical properties were determined to assess quality of oils. The fatty acids composition showed that Canarium indicum oils were rich in unsaturated fatty acids, 86.14% and 90.27% for mechanical pressing and solvent extraction, respectively. Both of Canarium indicum oils were similar in term of physicochemical properties. Overall, the results of this study designate that Canarium indicum oils are eligible to be used as a source of edible oil and can be utilized as raw material for medical, nutraceutical and other food applications.

Fatty acids are generally incorporated into a triglyceride structure in vegetable oils and this indicates vegetable oils are a source of fatty acids. Fatty acids and triglycerides are fatty groups commonly known to have a detrimental effect on health but have an important role in terms of nutrition, health, and are also a source of industrial raw materials. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the composition of fatty acids in several edible vegetable oils which are quite widely available in Indonesia such as coconut oil, palm kernel oil, palm oil, nutmeg oil, cinnamon oil, and canarium oil. The fatty acids profile of these vegetable oils was determined using high-performance liquid chromatography while the composition was determined by comparing the peaks in each vegetable oil with the standard fatty acids. It was discovered that all the six vegetable oils contain fatty acids with different compositions, and this signifies the availability of a complete variety of fatty acids in Indonesia. Moreover, the highest fatty acid content in coconut oil and palm kernel oil was found to be lauric acid with a concentration of 49.00% and 49.25% respectively while the contents in palm oil include palmitic acid with 44.00% and oleic acid with 41.00%. The nutmeg oil was dominated by myristic acid with 78.00%, cinnamon oil by stearic acid with 50.16%, and canarium oil by oleic acid with 51.71%. Furthermore, the concentration range for all the vegetable oils includes 14.66-91.20% saturated, 6.30-52.31% monounsaturated, and 1.35-33.03% polyunsaturated fatty acids. These results can be used as a source of information in the process of utilizing fatty acids and triglycerides in vegetable oils, and also provide the data required to estimate the nutritional value of the plant biodiversity originating from Indonesia.
Diabetes adalah penyakit yang berlangsung lama atau kronis serta ditandai dengan kadar gula (glukosa) darah yang tinggi atau di atas nilai normal. Glukosa yang menumpuk di dalam darah akibat tidak diserap sel tubuh dengan baik dapat menimbulkan berbagai gangguan organ tubuh. Diabetes melitus (DM) menjadi ancaman serius bagi kesehatan manusia pada abad ke-21. Jumlah penderita DM mencapai 422 juta orang di dunia pada tahun 2014. Sebagian besar dari penderita tersebut berada di negara berkembang. Indonesia sebagai salah satu negara berkembang memiliki jumlah penderita yang cukup tinggi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan tingkat pengetahuan, tingkat stres, dan durasi tidur terhadap kejadian Diabetes Mellitus. Metode penelitian dengan menggunakan desain cross sectional study. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah pasien yang datang memeriksakan kadar gula darah di UPTD Diabetes Center Kota Ternate Tahun 2018. Jumlah sampel 95 orang yang diambil dengan cara accidental sampling. Hasil uji statistik dengan menggunakan uji chi square menunjukkan bahwa faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan penyakit Diabetes Mellitus adalah tingkat stres dengan p-value = 0,037 ( <0,1 ) dan durasi tidur dengan p-value = 0,025 ( <0,1 ), sedangkan yang tidak berhubungan adalah tingkat pengetahuan dengan p-value = 0,709 ( >0,1 ). Oleh karena itu, disarankan kepada petugas kesehatan lebih meningkkatkan lagi informasi kepada masyarakat tentang penyakit Diabetes Mellitus, agar masyarakat lebih tahu tentang penyakit Diabetes Mellitus.
One species of canarium genus is Canarium indicum L which is an original plant from Indonesia. Utilization of some canarium nut species which spread around the world had been recognized, such as a source of nutritious food as well as its potency as raw material of medicine based on evidence-based scientific. In traditional medicine, was reported if canarium nut had been used for diabetes mellitus treatment, angina, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, antirheumatic, expectorant, etc. This article aims to review the chemical composition, nutrient values, and potency of canarium nut as the raw material of medicine. Scientific data were obtained from online search results. From the searching was found that at least eight species of canarium nut reported which is related to chemical composition and its nutrition which also provide ethnopharmacological benefits. Overall results, all identified canarium nut species have a favorable chemical composition and nutritional values that can be utilized as functional, nutritional and medicinal food. Therefore, the result of this study also indicates if the canarium nut from Indonesia, C. indicum L., has not been thoroughly studied. That indicates by the lack of scientific paper which presented about C. indicum from Indonesia.
