Moving bed filters are widely used in the field of high-temperature
gas filtration. The property of the capturing particles is undoubtedly
a crucial factor to determine the performance of the moving bed granular
filters. A large cold-mode experiment was carried out in a moving
bed granular filter with co-current flow (MBGF-CF). The characteristics
of the pressure drop and the collection efficiency were investigated
for two types of the capturing granules. The experimental results
show that the filters express a similar filtration performance under
the same operating conditions even if these two different capturing
granules are used. A low superficial gas velocity or a low granule
moving velocity results in a high filtration efficiency. In addition,
the empirical relationship of the single-particle trapping mechanism
for the dust to the total efficiency of the filter was proposed based
on analyzing the particle size distribution, the particle shape, and
the theoretical analysis of the void fraction construction.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
